August 14 - The Salt Path
The first night of Cinetree's Forest Film Festival we'll show The Salt Path. This film is currently a hot topic, because: is it a true story or not? Nevertheless, The Salt Path remains an inspiring, raw, and hopeful story. Raynor and Moth lose their home, their income, and their health. They decide to walk the 1,000-kilometer-long South West Coast Path, armed with only a tent and hope. Played by Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs, the film tells a story about loss, resilience and the healing power of nature. The Salt Path tells the lengths people will go to find home.
August 15 - Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing
In the summer heat of Brooklyn, tensions rise. Italian-Americans and African-Americans share the same neighborhood, but not the same world. Spike Lee's legendary 1989 film remains as relevant as ever. With colorful, musical scenes, iconic characters, and a compelling message, Do the Right Thing explores social tensions, urgent and painfully relevant.
Augst 16 - Lion
The true story of Saroo from India begins when he accidentally ends up thousands of miles from home at the age of five. Adopted by an Australian family and grown up, he decides to return to his birthplace through Google Earth and fragments of memories. In Lion, Dev Patel (known from Slum Dog Millionaire) and Nicole Kidman bring to life an intense portrait of identity, homesickness, and the search for roots.
August 17 - Paws & Popcorn Dog Night: Flow
Not a Date Night, but a Dog Night! Bring your four legged best friend along and watch the Oscar and a Golden Globe winner for Best Animated Feature in 2025: Flow. Almost wordless and with music that speaks, the film Flow follows a black cat who, after a sudden flood, finds herself on a boat with various animals, including a wonderfully energetic dog.
